I'm sorry that it's been so long, but after seeing a list by the World Economic Forum about the top 10 overall skills for the year 2020, I've been doing some reflection.
I feel as though I have strengths when it comes to creativity and coordinating with others. I feel this way in regards to creativity, because now when I am presented with a challenge, I find myself considering multiple "outside-the-box" ideas of how to go about it. Such as when I went and took photos for Centric's "Day of Innovation" conference at Butler University back in October - all photo opportunities were laid out in front of me, given with some requirements, but the rest of the project was then at my own disposal. I had full control in my work and how each shot would be presented/made. (If you'd like, I have a full gallery page of photos from that day under the "Works of Mine" tab!) When it comes to coordinating with others, I am able to be very flexible and open minded! Using the same example of working oh photographing for Centric, I was required to work in all new environments, and be able to coordinate between speakers at the conference - as well as my main advisor for the day - Stefanie Krevins! This particular situation taught me how to properly get things done in an efficient manner, as well as be able to coordinate well with other adults in a larger working setting. From that experience, I am now more able to efficiently coordinate with all different types of people, and continue to build up these skills! Both of these strengths of mine are wonderful to have, no doubt, though I can easily say that I could certainly use better judgement/decision making and critical thinking skills. These two skills, luckily, go hand in hand - meaning that their improvements can be simultaneous! I'm planning to improve my critical thinking skills by analyzing more of the things that surround me in everyday life more consciously, and use that to make judgements and decisions more quickly. All in all, I'm excited to see where this leads me!

Hi! Here's an update from my last blog post in regards to that to-do list.
1. I've emailed 6+ professional photographers in the past week for advice on building up my brand. 2. I've started getting a word mark made for my current logo image by a good friend of mine that is savvy in Photoshop. 3. I'm about to begin looking at different website development platforms to launch a new website with. 4. As always, I'm trying to work on finding people to photograph & build up my portfolio with. More to come later! Hi! Different from my last update, I've decided to restart and re-brand myself as a portrait & landscape photographer. Here is my current plan, in list form, for the beginning of this process.
1. Clear out my photography's Instagram page/rename, etc. - {Done} 2. Plan out a list of to-do stuff to see where I need to go from here - {In progress} 3. Edit this post based on where my to-do list takes me! - {TBD} Over the past two months, I have had the pleasure of being able to work with folks from Fishers Public Relations! Fishers Public Relations is a sector of people that work for the city, in order to keep those within the community updated on what all is new in town.
When my team and I met with our representatives from Fishers PR, Ashley Elrod & Casey Cawthon, they presented us with the challenge of creating a website solely for Fishers PR - as it's own sector - to be able to thrive. The idea of creating and building up a website for such an important part of our city's community, while being able to learn more about the city itself, is what truly drew me into this particular challenge. My team for this challenge included myself, a senior, as well as juniors Alexa Bray and Madison Halkyard. Together, we began with Fishers PR in working towards figuring out the best way(s) to truly interact with and reach other people in the community. This involved lots of conversing with our fellow classmates for ideas, as well as bouncing ideas off of our teachers and PR representatives. From that point, we began developing a website prototype for our PR folks, in order to give them a tangible idea of what to expect from us in terms of a large website. Now, we're working on presenting what w have collectively mapped out as a team to a diverse group of people from the city to get their thoughts and ideas on our work thus far. Then it's onto the production of the real thing! My team members and I all worked collectively to produce ideas and possible layout plans for our prototype site. We each worked to keep ourselves organized; determined to make our current end result the best we can for the moment. From this experience in working with the Fishers PR department, I really learned hoe to better be flexible, collaborative, and patient with other people and situations. Though sometimes we had communication problems, we always did our very best to catch back up in person and lay things out onto the table more clearly. I think that if I were to relive this experience, I would learn how to better organize and plan out the more tangible things being produced. That seems to be one of the only places where I feel I could have majorly improved on a personal level. All in all, I am very thankful to have had such an opportunity to be able to work with the amazing people involved in the Fishers PR department, and cannot wait to see where we end up in the future! |
